Shetland (Co-Ed) Baseball

Boys and Girls ages 5 and 6 will now play in our new Shetland Program

(6 year old girls have the option of playing in our Instructional Softball program)

All games are played at the Shetland fields on Smith Road by our soccer fields.

Our Shetland program is our introductory program designed to teach the basics of baseball to children who are just starting out in baseball or softball.  Our initial intent is to have our coaching parents pitch to the kids and to have the ball fielded as it would be in a normal baseball game.  The pitching will be done as any parent would to their small child, with the emphasis on trying to help them hit the ball.  Players will not be guaranteed to get on base at every turn at bat, just as occurs in the upper levels of baseball and softball.

This program will replaced our t-ball program in 2011, but still incorporates the beginning concepts of good sportsmanship that were part of our old t-ball program.

The MYAA's goal is to make this introductory level of play much more fun and exciting to our youngest members.
