2010 Irish Fest Participation
The MYAA
2010 Irish Fest Participation The Executive Board of your MYAA was presented an opportunity at our last meeting on Wednesday, February 3, 2010.
Brandon Lipke, coordinator of the Manhattan Irish Fest
( www.manhattanirishfest.com ) , met with your Executive Board to offer the MYAA an opportunity to be part of the 2010 Manhattan Irish Fest.
His presentation offers an opportunity of financial benefit to our
organization along with participation of MYAA members in a long
standing community tradition.
We are looking for input from you, our membership, to see if we have the
ability of fulfilling the Irish Fest’s needs.
The Irish Fest is asking that the MYAA provide volunteers for 60 three to four hour shifts during the Irish Fest Weekend.
If we are able to fill their volunteer requests, the Irish Fest is offering to give the MYAA 10% of the net proceeds. The net proceeds vary year to year, but Brandon indicated that last year’s proceeds were about $30,000.00. If this were to be consistent with the upcoming 2010 fest, the MYAA would stand to earn $3,000.00 for our involvement.
In addition to 10% of the proceeds, MYAA volunteers would also have the benefit of selling raffle tickets provided by the Irish Fest. The raffle tickets would be sold by our volunteers from now until February 27th, 2010. They are sold one ticket for $5.00 or 5 tickets for $20.00. All proceeds from the sales of raffle tickets would be paid back directly to your MYAA, so if our
volunteers were to sell $1,500.00 worth of tickets, the MYAA would get $1,500.00 back form the Irish Fest for these sales.
Your Executive Board sees this as an opportunity and are offering for the benefits of this opportunity to be given directly to any of our members who would volunteer. As such, if we are able to fulfill the needs of the Irish Fest in terms of numbers of volunteers needed, your MYAA will use this money to pay the registration fees for our programs for those who
volunteered.
Raffle ticket proceeds will be used directly for the individual volunteer who sold them and any money realized from the 10% net proceeds will be divided equally by the 60 volunteer shifts. Please understand that the Irish Fest has made no guaranty to the amount of proceeds to any organization.
Money from this event will be applied to any contributing members
participation in any of our 2010 programs. If you have already paid for a 2010 program, refunds can be made for your participation in the Irish Fest. The amount of money an individual member is eligible for will be limited to the cost of all of their registration fees for 2010 MYAA programs.
Duties for the volunteers will vary, but can include button sales, beer pourers and clean up.
The shift times of the Irish Fest are as follows:
Friday, March 5, 2010
6pm to 9pm
9pm to 12am
Saturday, March 6, 2010
12pm to 3pm
3pm to 6pm
6pm to 10pm
Sunday, March 7, 2010
7am to 10am
Volunteers are able to work multiple shifts.
Shift availability and volunteer duties will be handled by the Irish Fest.
Your MYAA is asking that members who are interested in volunteering at the Irish Fest email us at

with their name, phone number, email address and availability no later than next Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Volunteers must be a minimum of 21 years old.
If we are unable to provide enough volunteers needed for all 60 shifts that the Irish Fest is requesting, we will make an attempt to work out other
arrangements for our volunteer’s participation with the Irish Fest organizers.
This is a great opportunity for you and your MYAA to be part of the Manhattan tradition that is Irish Fest and an even greater opportunity for our members to offset the cost of their family’s registration fees for our programs.
